2006 Tribal Funk Festival Performers
-Tribal-
A Native folk band from the Shuswap Nation, Tribal blends funk, jazz, fusion, and folk music. Their unique style of traditional and not-so- traditional rhythms produce a sound that is distinctive, fresh, and mesmerizing. The hypnotizing guitar seems to converse with the band like an ancient soul language that has been lost for many years. Tribal is influenced by such bands as Johnny Lee Hooker, Primus, The Doors, Victor Wooten, Bele Fleck and the Flecktones, Jimi Hendrix, and Canned Heat to name a few; as well as classic, alternative, and progressive rock artists such as Dave Matthews Band, Ben Harper and Traditional Pow Wow music.

-Zen Media-
We are a fusion band creating music out of inspirations that span continents, cultures, and conscious thoughts. The driving force behind our band is the desire to make people move to something that is positive and enlightening, but still care free. Inspired by the DJ culture and the influence of electric music, Zen Media aspires to fuse the elements of both organic and electronic music into a non stop driving dance party that will keep fans sweaty and cheering for more.

-Sandy Scofield-
Sandy Scofield is a Metis (of Saulteaux and Cree descent) artist/composer based in Vancouver. Creatively kickstarted ever since a 1995 Banff Centre for the Arts program in traditional music, Sandy's music began to find its way into film soundtracks and theatre. As a singer-songwriter, here is a complex person who, at one moment, can sing delicate, satiny pop creating a cracked and broke down scenario, and in another she can boldly harness robust rhythm, blues and rock. Like a transforming trickster, Sandy can use melody and beautiful harmonies to carry weighty messages. Her keen ear for original arrangements, her experience articulated in powerful lyrics, and her beautiful vocal instrument combine to form a growing body of incisive musical works which touch contemporary audiences of all cultures.

-Pancho and Sal-
Pancho and Sal are leading artists in the Vancouver music scene. Folk festivals, community centers, schools, cruise ships, concerts in the parks and numerous events in the private entertainment area have given them public recognition.
Pancho and Sal's music and translations during their show inspires audiences to participate and sing along. Concerts are designed to be positive and enthusiastic experiences, taking the audiences on a musical tour encouraging them to sing and dance. Pancho and Sal raise the awareness and appreciation of the Spanish language and culture.

-Terza Rima-
Once upon a time, a flower bloomed, and out of it came the rebellious Terza Rima. At first glance we may look beautiful and sweet-smelling, but think again. We're a four piece all female band sure to blast your face off and move your feet. Not dancing can result in serious injury due to dance constipation - don't say we didn't warn you!
